Hampers Fundraising
Dear friends,
The last few months have been tough for everyone. As events continue to unfold regarding COVID-19, we are continuing to look for ways to help the most vulnerable in our local community.
The elderly have been hard-hit by the pandemic. Due to the heightened risks, some of them have been staying at home for a very long time with little contact with their communities. Those who do not have close family and friends have had to rely on volunteer support and are at higher risk of loneliness and isolation.
As we head towards the holiday season, we at SASAI are inviting you to join us in reminding the elderly that they are remembered and are valued members of our society.
Who are we?
Social Action Services Australia Incorporated (SASAI) is a small organisation of dedicated volunteers within the Blacktown and Mount Druitt local government areas. Our united purpose is to support the community by showing care to the most vulnerable and providing assistance to those in need within Western Sydney and if possible, across New South Wales.
What are we currently doing?
This year, we will be preparing and delivering hampers to the elderly who have been experiencing social isolation due to the pandemic. The baskets will be delivered between 14-20 December 2020.
Leading up to the holidays until 13 December 2020, we will be organising fundraising events to raise funds to distribute as many baskets as possible. Here are examples of our efforts so far:
- During my birthday last August, I raised gift donations from family and friends.
- local Zumba instructor, Jeanette Ang, is organising a Zumba session in Blacktown to help the community stay healthy, with proceeds going towards buying goods for the baskets.
- Chris Booth and Libby Romero are putting together a benefit concert so we get to enjoy their beautiful singing for a donation towards the hampers.
How can you help?
You can partner with us in a number of ways, including:
- donating non-perishable food items,
- donating directly to SASAI: BSB 012 464, account number 42479966,
- attending and donating in one of our fundraising events, and
- organising a fundraising event.
If you know an elderly in your area who has been experiencing social isolation, you can nominate them for a hamper by contacting us to discuss. We are open to ideas so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have questions or suggestions.
We thank you for your interest, together we are making a difference.
Yours sincerely
Eduardo dela Cruz
